A 2-hour a week Food & Nutrition workshop for 8 weeks will commence in September under the auspices of the HSE's Home Management & Advisory Service.
There is a maximum of 8 places available. So if you are interested, please leave your name at reception for Helena Heagney.

Introduction
"We have to eat food to survive. A great deal of time and skill is spent is spent preparing, cooking, preservinga and presenting food.

While food is eaten primarily as a source of nourishment it is also:
A form of relaxation e.g. family meals
A source of comfort e.g. a hot drink on a cold day
A way of being creative e.g. skill involved in preparing and presenting an attractive meal
A method of celebrating e.g. birthday party
A means of entertaining e.g. dinner party

We associate food with certain countries. Food that is a delicacy in one country may not be eaten in others. For instance, while snails, horsemeat and frogs legs are eaten in France, they would not normally form part of an Irish diet.

During the course of the workshop, participants will have an opportunity to explore food and trypical dishes from their own cultures and share in the enjoyment and experience of learning about traditional foods from across the world.
