Hans Piper has been appointed a 'Fellow' in Refugee and Asylum Seeker Healthcare at NUI Galway
The Department of Primary Care, HSE Western Area and the Department of General Practice, National University of Ireland, Galway, identified the need for a joint initiative to examine the provision of healthcare services to refugee and asylum seekers in Galway. The purpose of the fellowship is to contribute to the improvement of healthcare of refugees and asylum seekers in the HSE Western region. The Fellow works part time as General Practitioner and part time at the University. Through academic and clinical work, problem issues arising in the healthcare of asylum seekers and refugees will be identified and solutions or strategies for change will be initiated.
